Bibliotheca Croatiae auctorum Latinorum (CroALa), in lucem edita a Facultate Philosophica Universitatis Studiorum Zagrabiensis, continet opera Latine scripta ab auctoribus Croatis, sive ab aliis cum Croatia aliquo nexu coniunctis. Quae opera scribebantur iam inde a saeculo X usque ad tempora novissima (invenies inibi et Helenae reginae epitaphium a. 976 ad Salonas positum et carmina Latina Ioannis Golub, publici iuris facta primum a. 1984).

Textus in bibliotheca CroALa forma sunt digitali, iuxta schema quod nomine TEI XML insignitur. Id factum est ut indagationes omnimodae digitales in bibliotheca fieri possint. Eadem de causa etiam textus omnium generum inclusimus: opera stilo cultiore et incultiore scripta, prosaica poetica, breviora longiora, monumenta aere perenniora et alia ad salariorum scrinia destinanda. Bibliotheca continet paginas circa viginti milia, verborum quinquagies centena milia, textus CDL; ea de causa hoc tempore CroALa maxima est collectionum textuum Croaticorum Latine scriptorum quas novimus. Codicilli textuum in forma XML praestant omnibus liberrime, publici iuris facti sub licentia ita dicta Creative Commons (CC-BY).

Bibliotheca duas partes habet. Prima pars textus sunt ipsi, alia est autem programma computatrale PhiloLogic dictum, cuius ope omnia verba bibliothecae simul quaeri possint. PhiloLogic opus est exaratum in prospectu rerum investigandarum ARTFL et in Centro bibliothecae digitalis organisandae Universitatis studiorum Chicago.

Bibliotheca CroALa offert non modo versiones digitales editionum vetustiorum, sed etiam editiones ad normam criticae philologicae novissime exaratas. Collectionem eo modo compositam scimus inaequalem esse et incongruam, sed speramus id vitium aliquatenus redemptum iri ipsa facultate omnia verba simul quaerendi.

CroALa / O zbirci

Croatiae auctores Latini (CroALa), u izdanju Filozofskog fakulteta Sveučilišta u Zagrebu, znanstvena je i slobodno dostupna digitalna zbirka s međunarodnom recenzijom. Zbirka okuplja tekstove hrvatskih latinista te autora povezanih s Hrvatskom. Uključena su djela od srednjeg vijeka do najnovijeg doba (najstariji je tekst trenutačno solinski epitaf kraljice Jelene iz 976, a najnovija je zbirka latinskih pjesama Ivana Goluba, prvi put objavljena 1984).

Cilj je zbirke CroALa omogućiti filološka istraživanja korpusa hrvatske novolatinske književnosti. Zato je zbirka načelno otvorena i književnim i neknjiževnim djelima, i prozi i poeziji, i kratkim i dugim tekstovima, i djelima vrhunske vrijednosti i efemernim ostvarenjima. S približno 20.000 stranica, pet milijuna riječi i 450 dokumenata CroALa je trenutačno najopsežnija računalna zbirka hrvatskog latiniteta. XML verzije tekstova uključenih u zbirku slobodno su dostupne pod otvorenom licencom Creative Commons (CC-BY).

Istraživanje omogućuju dvije komponente sustava. Sami su tekstovi kodirani u skladu s TEI XML standardom za označavanje tekstova (TEI je djelo međunarodnog konzorcija Text Encoding Initiative), a XML su izdanja tekstova objavljena i učinjena pretraživima pomoću sustava PhiloLogic (razvili su ga ARTFL Project i Digital Library Development Center Sveučilišta u Chicagu).

Neki od tekstova uključenih u zbirku CroALa nastali su jednostavnim digitaliziranjem, skeniranjem ili prijepisom starijih izdanja, izvornih ili kasnijih znanstvenih, dok su drugi tekstovi plod modernoga filološkog rada i digitalne inačice suvremenih kritičkih izdanja. Svjesni smo da je takva zbirka neujednačena, no, prinuđeni raditi s onime što imamo, tješimo se okolnošću da su nedostaci i greške digitalnih izdanja lakše ispravljivi od onih u tiskanim knjigama i časopisima, te da se nedosljednosti zbirke mogu donekle nadoknaditi mogućnošću pretraživanja cjelovitog teksta.

CroAla / About the collection

Croatiae auctores Latini (CroALa) is a peer-reviewed, freely available scholarly digital collection of Latin texts by Croatian and other authors connected with people and region of today's Croatia. Published by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, the collection comprises works from the Middle Age until the Modern Period; the oldest text currently included is the epitaph of Queen Jelena, from 976, while the latest, a collection of Latin poems by Ivan Golub, first appeared in 1984.

CroALa aims to enable philological research in the corpus of Croatian Latin in the widest possible sense. Therefore it includes both literary and non-literary texts, both prose and poetry, both short works and the longer ones, works of high literary value and trivial documents. Approximately 20,000 pages, 5 million words, and 450 documents make CroALa the largest extant collection of Croatian Latin. The XML versions of CroALa texts are freely available under a CC-BY license.

The collection consists of two components. The first one are the texts themselves, encoded in a subset of TEI XML (a standard scheme for the representation of texts in digital form). The other component is PhiloLogic, an open-source, full-text search and retrieval system developed by the ARTFL project and the Digital Library Development Center of the University of Chicago.

Some of the texts published in CroALa are simple keyed-in or corrected OCR digitizations of older editions, some original, some scholarly editions, with XML markup added later. Other texts were produced by contemporary philological methods, as digital versions of critical editions. Still other are born-digital critical editions. We are well aware that such a collection is methodologically and textually uneven. However, trying to use what is at hand, we do so because we believe that all errors and mistakes in digital texts are easier corrected than those in printed books and journals, and that inconsistency of the collection can be compensated for by the added value of full-text search.
